Cupra Raval spotted – New pictures of the small electric car in the snow

After Cupra has already covered the electric Golf class with the Cupra Born, the Cupra Raval (formerly Cupra UrbanRebel) is now to take off as a small car one category below from 2025. We have new pictures and all the information about the Cupra Raval.

The development of the Cupra Raval began under the name Cupra UrbanRebel. At the end of 2025, it should finally be time for the market launch of the Cupra Raval. This is likely to make Cupra the first model in "ID.2" size from the Volkswagen Group. The Raval has now been caught on test drives, we have all the pictures and information about the Erlkönig.

  • Production cars of the UrbanRebel concept
  • E-car with more than 200 hp and a range of 440 km
  • Sporty design for the e-speedster
  • New pictures from the winter test
  • Market launch at the end of 2025
  • Priced probably around 25,000 euros

The call for small electric cars can be heard again and again in the course of the change to electric mobility, and the Raval is the first vehicle from Volkswagen AG in the desired category.

Cupra Raval Erlkönig – Exterior Design

The Cupra Raval is clearly recognizable as the little brother of the Cupra Born. This is ensured not only by the slightly smaller dimensions (just under 4 metres long and 2.6 metres wheelbase), but also by the Cupra-typical design trimmed for dynamics. Shaped lines on the bonnet in the shape of a V and the triangular headlights, as they are known from the Born, underline the Cupra identity.

The large grille on the lower part of the front together with the air intakes next to it are also intended to emphasize the sportiness. The profile view of the Cupra Raval is not quite as eye-catching as the front apron, but design lines run across the car here as well.

These are just as eye-catching as the black door sills and wheel arches. The relatively large roof spoiler is also reminiscent of the Born, which offers a very similar side view.

The sighted test car is also on Cupra-specific rims, which also set design aspects with black paintwork. When looking from the side, the integrated door handles of the Cupra Raval are also striking. Finally, attention has also been paid to the dynamics of the exterior at the rear.

Although the huge rear spoiler from the UrbanRebel study can no longer be found, the diffuser and taillights still make for a stylish look.

With the recognizable kink in the tailgate, it is clear that the designers have not skimped on typical Cupra elements at the rear either.

Cupra Raval – Interior Design

We don't have any pictures of the interior of the Erlkönig yet, but we did get a glimpse of the interior through the UrbanRebel study. Highlights here are a free-floating center console, a large central touchscreen and the sporty steering wheel with flattening and 12 o'clock marking.

No expense has been spared on decorative elements such as the ubiquitous ambient lighting and copper-coloured mouldings either. Despite small dimensions, a high-quality interior should attract customers. To what extent the production model will actually be able to take over the interior is still unclear, after all, Cupra has also set itself the goal of working particularly sustainably with recycled and degradable materials.

Cupra Raval – Battery and Motors

Cupra also wants to live up to its claim as a sporty brand with the smaller Raval and is probably planning with more than 200 hp of power. This is still a long way from the up to 320 kW output of the UrbanRebel study, but for the small car this is more than enough traction. In terms of battery, it is expected that there will be two variants: 38 and 56 kWh.

These are said to be able to charge with up to 125 kW and have a range of approx. 440 km according to WLTP. Overall, this is a category smaller than the Cupra Born, which uses batteries with outputs of 60, 77 and 79 kWh. More details on the technical metrics are likely to follow at the official launch.

Cupra Raval – sales launch and price

The Raval, together with its cousins VW ID.2 and Skoda Epiq from the Volkswagen Group, is to represent the three-part spearhead for small electric cars. All three are to be located near the 25,000 euros for less than 30,000 euros in order to accelerate the slow transition to electric mobility.

The start date for the Cupra Raval has been announced as 2025. This means that the Spaniards are likely to be the first in the Volkswagen Group to introduce their small car to the market if the Czechs do not pre-empt them with the Skoda Epiq, which has also been announced for 2025. Actually, the Volkswagen ID.2 has also been planned for 2025, but Volkswagen has only recently denied reports about this and stuck to a date of 2026.
